"BPF Youth" Members Detained in Minsk for Distributing Narodnaia Volia

At about 2.30 at the crossroads of Nezaliezhnastsi and Kazlou Street in Minsk two members of the "BPF Youth" Paviel Batuieu and Alies Mazanik were detained for distributing a regular issue of the independent newspaper Narodnaia Volia. The police officers took the detained people to the Board of Internal Affairs of Tsentralny Borough of the Capital."The detentions for the distribution of the Narodnaia Volia are illegal", says Valiantsin Stefanovich, HRC Viasna lawyer. - This is a periodical officially registered in the Republic of Belarus, and, correspondingly, it can be distributed, including the free-of-charge basis. The detained young people have not violated the effective legislation in any way. Most probably, the police were given the task to stop the distribution of the independent newspaper using any methods".
