OFFICE OF REGIONAL BRANCH OF HUMAN RIGHTS CENTER VIASNA IN ZHODZINA CAME UNDER PNEUMATIC FIRE

On 25 October a case of firing on a window of the Zhodzina-based branch of HRC Viasna was registered
The police were called in. 4 police came to inspect the holes, question the neighbors, make a report and record evidence from those who suffered.
Experts believe that the desk-level of the window came under fire of 6 charges from a German-made pneumatic pistol.
This is yet another case of intimidation after on 14 October the Narodnaia Volia published an article by Alies Volny "Ianka Will Learn in Belarusian" in the VICTORY column. Zhodzina human rights activists, the kid's parents the Lapitskis have spent a year struggling for their son's right to learn in Belarusian and finally succeeded – their son will learn in Belarusian in Gymnasium No.1 in Zhodzina.
18 October 2005. (four days after the publication of the mentioned article) the window was stained with red and brown paint.
The following day Aliaxei Lapitski filed a complaint with the head of the Zhodzina Department of Internal Affairs Mr. Shliakhtsin regarding the neo-nazi attack on the Zhodzina branch of Viasna, which has not been observed since 2001. In the night the windows were again stained with black paint. On 24 October a statement registering the firing on the office was also filed with the police.
