Homel Regional Branch of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee is finishing its operations. The Council of this public association has decided to liquidate all the regional branches of the BHC due to problems with the legal addresses.

According to Aliaksandr Yauseenka, Chair of the branch, the liquidation of the branch does not mean that the Helsinki Committee stops its activity in Homel region. “A regional representative will act in Homel instead of the branch.” It will certainly complicate our work but we will continue working because the demand for human rights and freedoms defense in Homel region is increasing, - reported A.
