Political Prisoner Aliaksandr Vasilieu Transferred to Prisoner’s Hospital in Minsk

According to Charter’97

Pavel Marynich (whose father, another political prisoner Mikhail Marynich, is examined at the hospital) said it to Charter’97.

We should remind that on 7 September 2004 in Hrodna the leaders of the national strike committee Valery Levaneuski and Aliaksandr Vasilieu were sentenced to two years of jail. The court found them guilty in public insult of president Lukashenka (part 2 of Article #268 of the Criminal Code). Aliaksandr Vasilieu was also found guilty in “organization of group actions that grossly violated the public order” (Article #342 of the Criminal Code) which means – the organization of the 1 meeting of entrepreneurs on 1 May.

On 26 October 2004 the chair of the National strike committee of businessmen Valery Levaneuski was directed to common regime colony #22 in the settlement of Damanava (Ivatsevichy district of Brest region) and his deputy Aliaksandr Vasilieu – to colony #8 in the town of Orsha (Vitsebsk region).
