Zmitser Ivanowski Sentenced to 15 Days of Jail

Zmitser Ivanowski is the head of the unregistered democratic movement “Democratic Choice”. Members of the movement distributed the fly-sheets with urges to come to Lenin Square on 29 November for collecting signatures about the impeachment to the local administration. Instead of the collection of signatures in Zhyliber park there took place unauthorized meeting of entrepreneurs. About 70 persons attended it. They demanded to set aside the ruling of Hrodna Regional Executive Committee that obliged them to install cash registers and prohibited to sell bakery.

During the meeting Zmitser Ivanowski was at Hrodna Leninski Court, to which he was driven by the police so that he couldn’t take part in the meeting.

On 1 December judge of Hrodna Leninski Borough Court Viktoryia Kulakowskaya sentenced Zmitser Ivanowski to 15 days of jail.
