Former Head of Belarusian TV and Radio Company Is Charged with Bribery
On 20 February the Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus presented the official accusation to the former head of Belarusian TV and Radio Company Yahor Rybakow. He is charged with violation of the third part of article 430 of the Criminal Code of Belarus – receiving a bribe by a person that occupies a responsible post. This crime is punished by 7-15 years of jail with or without property confiscation with deprival of the right to occupy responsible posts or maintain certain kinds of activity.
According to the information, given to the PA “Belarusian Association of Journalists” by the press secretary of the prosecutor’s office Yury Azaronak, the investigation will be conducted for the next two months. Then, “depending on the found materials”, the case can be either suspended or the investigation will continue. The place where the former head of Belarusian TV and Radio Campaign is detained, is kept in secret.
