The USA Embassy in Belarus has distributed the appeal of Philip Ricker, vice-Press-secretary of the US State Department, where he called to stop pressurization of Belarusian independent mass media, let renew the issue of “Belorusskaya Delovaya Gazeta” and the monthly edition “BDG. Dlya Sluzhebnogo Polzovaniya”. The US considers the recent actions of the Belarusian authorities as directed at smothering of independent mass media. It is also said there that the actions of Belarusian Parliament directly contradict the words of Aliaksandr Lukashenka about the intention to improve relations with the USA and the European Union, as liberty of speech is one of the components of democratic society.

Philip Richer also remarks that according to information of Belarusian Association of Journalists, the Ministry of Information intends to close four another non-State newspapers.
